CALL TO ORDER
A regular meeting of the Wilde Lake Village Board was called to order by Kevin McAliley, Chair, on February 4, 2019 at 6:33pm at Slayton House, Columbia, Maryland. Members present were Kevin McAliley, Chair; Laura Torres, Vice Chair; Mary Calder; Bess Caplan; Kristin Shulder, Village Manager; and Carole Black, Board Secretary. Stephen Mowatt and Nancy McCord, Columbia Council Rep; were absent. Also present were Parris Zirkenbach, HC Department of Public Works, Traffic Division; Sarah Corrick, Brittany Nicholas and Dennis Stillions, Vista Apartments; and Carl McKinney, Covenant Advisor.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Ms. Caplan made a motion, seconded by Ms. Calder, to approve the agenda for February 4, 2019. All in favor.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Ms. Torres made a motion, seconded by Ms. Caplan, to approve the minutes of January 7, 2019. All in favor.
SPECIAL GUEST; Parris Zirkenbach, Howard County Department of Public Works, Traffic Division
Mr. Zirkenbach provided information on residents’ parking concerns along Cross Fox Lane, particularly during tennis season. Mr. Zirkenbach noted that no parking signs were posted along Cross Fox Lane across from the tennis courts.
Kimco Realty: Wilde Lake Village Center Apartment Dumpsters
Dennis Stillions, Maintenance Supervisor for Vista Apartments, explained that they were working on removing the dumpsters immediately after pick up, as well as the recycle dumpsters.
Resident Speakout
There were no residents who wished to speak out.
ORDER OF BUSINESS
Request for 15-Day Notice: 10334 Nightmist Court
Ms. Torres made a motion, seconded by Ms. Caplan to send a 15-Day Notice to 1034 NIghtmist Court. All in favor.
Cross Fox Lane – Parking and Dumpsters Discussion
This situation will be monitored and violations will be reported.
Request for Free Use – Maryland Department of Health – Camp Directors’ Meeting
Ms. Torres made a motion, seconded by Ms. Calder, to approve free use for this meeting. All in favor.
Discussion: County Executive Ball’s Request to Identify Village Priorities
The Board discussed their priorities including more funding for the police department, traffic calming along Ten Mills Road and Green Mountain Circle and sidewalk repairs.
REPORTS
Columbia Council Rep: Ms. McCord was absent. No report.
AC Liaison: Ms. Calder reported that there were 5 applications, which were approved.
Committees:
Education: Ms. Calder reported that there is a collection for books at Running Brook Elementary, Wilde Lake Middle School is having a fundraiser on February 13 at Mod Pizza.
Health and Wellness: Ms. Torres has scheduled a Meditation workshop on March 23, 10am-11:30am. There will be a yoga activity on April 28. working on a meditation program in March. We hope to partner Ca to offer a yoga class on April 28 at Wilde Lake Park.
Wilde Lake CARES: Ms. Caplan reported that there will be a cleanup on March 30.
Neighborhood Reps: Mr. Mowatt was absent. No report.
Manager: Ms. Shulder reminded the Board that the nomination period begins on February 20.
Chair: Mr. McAliley reported that there is a DIY tool rental at the Elkridge Library..
